This tip is particularly for websites with a mailing list |
If your website offers the facility for visitors to subscribe to an email list to receive featured articles it is best to publish say at least 15 minutes after the daily schedule.
So for example, if you know that new articles are emailed automatically at 11:00am, publish the article(s) any time just after 11:15am.
Why publish just after the scheduled mail out time?
Because this offers you nearly 24 hours to tweak and edit the article after it is first published.
Those new edits will be saved and used the next time emails are scheduled to send.
What if the article is edited after it has been mailed out?
This can have an adverse effect and cause faults with the email that has been sent such as broken links and/or missing images
Is there anything that can be edited after it has been mailed out?
Yes - anything after a read more link can be edited (as this content is not sent in the email)
