If your files are saved in OneDrive you need to read this

OneDrive Tips

When you open a file, for example a Word document stored in OneDrive you might notice this AutoSave switch in the top left...

Autosave

This means that any changes you make to this document is automatically being saved moment by moment.

When you close the document (without saving) it won't prompt you to save your changes because they have already been saved.

Using a document as a 'template' for a new document

If you are in the habit of using a previous document as a basis for a new document you need to do this.

  • Open the previous document you wish to use
  • IMPORTANT: Do not change anything in it yet (or it will overwrite the original document)
  • Just go to File > Save a Copy and save the file immediately with the new name
  • You can now continue to edit the document without affecting the original previous document
  • And if you have saved it in OneDrive you will see the AutoSave is working on your new document
