The Challenge
At the very beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic the parish priest agreed to try a live stream broadcast of Mass to the parishioners. It was decided that the parish needed a website to provide the simplest way of accessing the live stream.
The Solution
Barryroe Parish
The domain barryroe.ie was registered and the website was launched with the live stream mass embedded on the home page.
Over time the website has developed and now includes the following features to serve the parishioners at Barryroe and Courtmacsherry:
- Countdown to live stream Mass on the home page
- Publication of Parish Notices and announcements
- The facility for vistors to subscribe to receiving notices directly to their email
- Bible readings for today and next Sunday
- The bidding prayers for Sunday Mass from the diocese
- A weekly reflection on Sunday's Gospel
- The invitation to submit prayer requests (with the option to be anonymous)
- An archive of all previous live-streamed Masses since St Patrick's Day 2020
- A place for prayers and videos for reflection
- A resource for choir members to learn their parts for the sung Mass
- A calendar showing all Mass times for Barryroe and Courtmacsherry
- The facility to request a baptism
- The option to give donations safely online
